You are invited to UMUC Presents: Statelessness Under International Law.

About 10-15 million people in the world lack nationality. These people face innumerable problems; most are poor, unprotected, and exploited. They are vulnerable to human trafficking and ideological radicalism, posing risks to individual safety and collective security.

At this UMUC Presents, Dr. Imrana Iqbal will address:

  • How do people become stateless?
  • Does international law have any remedies?
  • Can the international community force national governments to grant citizenship to stateless people?
  • Can the international community protect such unprotected people?

Also, Professor Nicole San Juan will offer an interdisciplinary perspective on the social ramifications of statelessness.

The entire community is welcome to attend this informative and thought-provoking event on statelessness. Complimentary refreshments will also be provided.
